Chairman Do sponsored a free Health Fair on Sunday, October 14, with the Vietnamese Physician Association of Southern California (VPASC) at the Westminster Rose Center. Over 1,000 residents came to take part in the healthcare services like flu shots, dental exams, cardiovascular tests, vision exams and so much more. This year, VSPAC also added Free Eyeglasses to 40 children.

Chairman Do serves on the County’s Medi-Cal Health Plan, CalOptima, where he conducted the agency’s most extensive member health needs assessment in its 22-year history. The study gathered responses from all geographic areas of Orange County, across all age groups and in 10 languages. The results found that 41% did not see a dentist because of cost, 25% did not have or know of a dentist, 28% said it takes too long to get an appointment, among other findings. Chairman Do is committed to expanding access to health care for all Orange County residents, and sponsoring health fairs is a step in that direction.

Services at the Free Health Fair were provided on a first come, first serve basis.

Attendees who were unable to get a free flu shot, due to supply running out, are invited to Chairman Do’s free flu shots events coming up in Santa Ana and Westminster.

Do you still need to get your flu shot this year? Chairman Andrew Do is hosting three FREE flu shot clinics to help the community prepare for flu season. These clinics are open to the public and provide shots at no cost. OC Health Care Agency nurses administer all vaccines on a first come, first serve basis.

The flu or influenza is a serious illness. It is more than just a runny nose and sore throat. The flu can make you very sick and cause you to go to the hospital or even lead to death. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone 6 months and older get the flu vaccine (flu shot). You can protect yourself and those around you by getting a flu shot.

Last Wednesday, over 300 food service employees and business owners attended a Food Safety Seminar hosted by Chairman Andrew Do and Supervisor Michelle Steel at Freedom Hall in Mile Square Park.

Orange County Health Care Agency’s Environmental Health Division, the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and Waste Not Orange County presented information on how to prevent major food safety violations, information on alcohol sales, how to donate food and more. Those who completed the seminar received a Certificate of Completion that can be displayed at their business.

Let’s “flip the switch” on a bright milestone for enhancing walking and bicycling safety in the community!

Join Chairman Andrew Do, OC Public Works and the City of Santa Ana Public Works to celebrate the new lights installed along the Santa Ana Gardens bikeway.
