American Legion Post 131 Celebrates Marine Corps Birthday

Saturday, November 10th marked the 243rd birthday of the United States Marine Corps, and American Legion Post 131 in Santa Ana hosted a celebration to mark the occasion. Dozens of local veterans, many former and active marines, gathered at the post to show their respect for the Corps and celebrate its long and illustrious history.

Chairman Andrew Do joined members of the post to celebrate and listen to the guest of honor, Billy C. Hall, recount his service. Mr. Hall joined the United States Marine Corps at age 15 and served our country valiantly for 35 years. Chairman Do presented Mr. Hall with a certificate of recognition from the County in honor of his service to our country and the local community.

The brave men and women who have earned the title of Marine are some of our country’s great heroes. Without the sacrifice, courage, and steadfast service of the Marines and other service members, we would not be able to enjoy the freedoms we enjoy every day. God Bless the Marines, God bless our Veterans, and God bless America.

County Partners with OC United Way to Help Homeless

This morning, Supervisor Andrew Do attended the Orange County United Way Board meeting to announce the County’s partnership for the new landlord incentive program, which will help those experiencing homelessness find rental units. The program is part of United Way’s United to End Homelessness initiative and the County’s System of Care. This program is made possible through partnerships between the non-profit United Way and the County, as well as private sector landlords and donors. These public private partnerships are key to making a significant impact in addressing Orange County’s homelessness crisis. Uniting public, private, and faith-based efforts is key to creating countywide, integrated, and sustainable solutions.

Thank you to Orange County United Way CEO Sue Parks, Chair of the Board Ian Leisegang, and founding Chair of United to End Homelessness Larry Armstrong, as well as incredible staff at the County including CEO Frank Kim, for making this partnership happen.

Supervisor Do Joins Metrolink Board

Supervisor Andrew Do was recently appointed to represent Orange County on the Metrolink Board of Directors. His first meeting was Friday; so naturally, he took the train from Santa Ana!

“Southern Californians deserve frequent, safe, and reliable train service,” said Supervisor Do. “And we need it now more than ever as we face challenges including housing, long-distance commutes, and widespread traffic congestion.”

Since 1992, Metrolink has provided Southern California drivers a safe, convenient alternative to driving. As drivers choose Metrolink, traffic is relieved and air quality is improved.

Metrolink is governed by the Southern California Regional Rail Authority (SCRRA), a joint powers authority made up of an 11-member board representing the transportation commissions of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties.
