Moon Festival and Census Kickoff at the Asian American Senior Center

This past Saturday my office participated in the Asian American Senior Citizens Service Center’s Moon Festival and Chinese Complete Count U.S. Census kickoff! Attendees celebrated with moon cakes, long noodles, and “longevity buns” – all symbolic of good fortune and long life. Special thanks to Chief Operating Officer Jennifer Wang and President Tim Cheng for helping stress the importance of filling out the 2020 Census for a complete count!

The Orangewood Foundation Continues to Spread Hope

Last week, I visited the Orangewood Foundation in Santa Ana for a tour of the facility and to talk to the Executive Director, Chris Simonsen, and his staff about the great work they are doing. The foundation provides a range of services like housing, employment, GED classes, and more. They give critical support to foster youth experiencing homelessness, abuse, mental illness, and a number of other dangerous situations. I’m proud that the Board of Supervisors supports this incredible organization with funding for their outreach programs.

Local Restaurant in Little Saigon Celebrates 40 Years of Service

Thanh My Restaurant has been a Little Saigon institution for decades. The spot is a local favorite because of its authentic, home-style dishes. It’s internationally known among the Vietnamese diaspora community for it’s incredible food and its historic spot along Bolsa Avenue where Little Saigon first started to blossom. Last Thursday I was proud to recognize them for their 40th anniversary.

Della Rosa Project in Westminster will Provide Additional Supportive Units

Orange County is keeping its promise of more affordable and permanent supportive housing. The Orange County Board of Supervisors helped fund the Della Rosa project with $1.16 million, along with 25 project-based housing vouchers. This project will provide 25 affordable and 25 permanent supportive units. I am committed to making sure OC sees more projects like Della Rosa come to fruition.
