The festival features live entertainment, great local food, cultural performances, an incredible firecracker display and much more! Admission and parking are free and open to the public. Orange County's First Mental Health and Wellness Campus
Last week, the Orange County Board of Supervisors committed $16.6 million for the creation of the County’s first Be Well Orange County (OC) Regional Mental Health and Wellness Campus. Be Well OC is a transformative initiative bringing together public, private, academic and faith-based organizations, as well as others, to create a coordinated system of mental health care and support for all Orange County residents.
The Wellness Campus at 265 Anita Drive exemplifies the spirit of the Be Well OC public-private partnership. CalOptima, Kaiser and St. Joseph Hoag Health are joining the Board of Supervisors in the creation of the new 60,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility that will replace an existing 45,000-square-foot, two-story office building. This is a significant sign of systems change for mental health and wellness in Orange County. The projected cost for the campus is $40 million and construction is expected to commence in late Spring 2019.
Two New Veterans Appointed to Veterans Advisory Council
Today, the Orange County Board of Supervisors approved Supervisor Do’s appointment of Richard Lundberg and Dale Soeffner to the Orange County Veterans Advisory Council.
A Veteran of the U.S. Army, Richard Lundberg is a former Long Beach Police Department Sergeant who resides in Westminster. He is an active member of the Elks and Hope Lutheran Church. He earned his AA from Long Beach City College. Richard understands the many issues that Veterans face and deal with on a daily basis, and he is eager to assist his fellow Veterans.
A Veteran of the Army National Guard, Dale Soeffner is a retired store manager for Ralph’s who resides in Garden Grove. Both Dale’s daughter and son-in-law are Iraq Veterans as well. Dale has been active in giving back to the community in a number of ways having served on the OC Grand Jury, OCTA Oversight Board, and Garden Grove Planning Commission and Parks & Recreation Commission. Dale is passionate about mental health access for Veterans, as he knows many individuals with PTSD.
We are looking forward to having both Richard and Dale serve the needs of our Veteran community here in Orange County. Thank you for your service to our country and for your continued service to our community, Richard and Dale.

Welcome to the First District Family, Mark Cruz Carpenter!
Our Deputy Chief of Staff Veronica Carpenter welcomed the arrival of her son, Mark Cruz Carpenter, into the world at exactly 12:14 PM the afternoon of January 30, 2019. The beautiful baby boy was born in excellent health at 8 pounds and exactly 20 inches. Congratulations to Veronica and her husband, Tom, on embarking on the incredible journey of parenthood. Best wishes for health and happiness to the new family and welcome to the First District family, baby Mark!
Garden Grove State of the City
Exciting things are in store in Garden Grove! From hotel projects in the Grove District, to hip new restaurants like the Penalty Box by Anaheim Ducks hockey legend Teemu Selanne, to innovative transportation like the OC Streetcar, it is a vibrant and active time for Garden Grove. I was happy to attend the Garden Grove State of the City last week to show my support for the incredible work of Mayor Steve Jones and the Garden Grove City Council. Thank you, Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce, for hosting and keep up the great work!
