Congratulations Class of 2020!

In these unprecedented times, it can sometimes be difficult to think of what the future may hold. From what I’ve witnessed from the Class of 2020 already, I’m confident that you will rise to face all challenges that you encounter and not only overcome them but thrive. From myself, and all of us here at the First District, congratulations on your incredible achievements, we can’t wait to see what comes next!

OC Clerk-Recorder Departments Now Open

Over-the-counter service has resumed for all Clerk-Recorder Department services.

I applaud Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen and his incredible department for implementing innovative approaches to serve OC during the last few months. Last week, I toured the County Service Center with OC Supervisor Doug Chaffee to see how the Clerk-Recorder’s office is implementing Phase 3 of the reopening plan, which will allow us to test our county’s ability to safely provide services moving forward.

The OC Clerk-Recorder office requests that individuals complete their application online for the services below prior to visiting their offices.

Click on the link below for the service you are requesting:

For birth, death, or marriage certificates.

For marriage licenses and ceremonies.

For Fictitious Business Name Statements.

For more details click here.

If you have any questions, you can contact the Clerk-Recorder office at (714) 834-2500.

Face Shield Donation to Family Choice Medical Group

On Monday, I met with Dr. Toan Tran to donate over 1,000 face shields to Family Choice Medical Group, one of the largest physician networks working with CalOptima to serve the Little Saigon community.

This vital personal protective equipment will help their healthcare staff stay safe while providing essential medical services. Shout out to Rotary District 5320 volunteers for assembling the face shields!

Saddleback Church Food Distribution Event

Last week, Saddleback Church and my office distributed groceries to families in need at St. Anne’s School in Santa Ana. It was so empowering to see many volunteers give up their morning to help at this event.

Supporting Local Businesses

Because of the COVID-19 restrictions, many of us are getting a haircut for the first time in a while. Last week, my staff visited The Bona Fide Store in Santa Ana to get a trim for the first time in three months.

When you’re looking for products and services, make sure you’re supporting local Small Businesses like the Bona Fide Store!

June 14 - US Army Day & Flag Day

Sunday marked two anniversaries.

On June 14, 1775, the U.S. Army was founded. Since then, our brave service members have defended our shared values of freedom and democracy both here at home and across the globe. Thank you to all who serve, and happy 245th birthday to the US Army.

On June 14, 1777, the United States Congress officially adopted the flag of our nation this day. Since then, it has been the premier symbol of freedom, democracy, and a commitment to creating a better world.

Be Careful of Text Scams

Please be aware of this current scam regarding COVID-19 contact tracing that CalOptima announced earlier this week:

Contact tracing plays a vital role in helping to stop the spread of COVID-19. But scammers, pretending to be contact tracers and taking advantage of how the process works, are also sending spam text messages that ask you to click a link.

Unlike a legitimate text message from a health department, which only wants to let you know they’ll be calling, this message includes a link to click. Don't take the bait!

Information provided by the Federal Trade Commission.
