OC Approves Second Wellness Hub

During Tuesday’s Board Meeting, the Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to support the development and construction of Orange County’s second Wellness Campus, a 22-acre portion of the County’s property located in South Orange County near the former Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) El Toro.

In February 2018, the County purchased a 2.10-acre property located at 265 S. Anita Drive in Orange for the development of the Be Well OC North Campus – the first of three OC Wellness Hubs – a first-of-its-kind public-private partnership that will provide mental health treatment to all residents of Orange County.

The programs and services offered in all three OC Wellness Hubs expand on the county’s promise for providing coordinated behavioral health and substance abuse disorder services to all Orange County residents.

The first Wellness Campus, located at Anita Drive in Orange, is slated to open in January 2021.

Free Drive-Thru and Mobile Flu Vaccine Clinics Coming to OC

Orange County cannot risk fighting a bad flu season during an already extreme health crisis brought on by COVID-19.

That’s why the Board unanimously approved my proposal to conduct free, drive-thru flu vaccine clinics in each of the five supervisorial districts as well as develop free mobile flu vaccine clinics by the end of the month. These clinics will help to avoid placing any unnecessary strain on our healthcare system.

The first drive-thru flu shot clinic in the First District will take place next month. Follow @JoinAndrewDo and stay tuned for more details.

9-11 Never Forget

Nineteen years ago, 2,977 Americans were killed in the horrific terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. As a nation, we must never let the events of September 11, 2001, fade from our collective memory.

Last Friday, we honored survivors and paid tribute to the selfless bravery of those first responders who sacrificed so much in the service of their fellow Americans. Our prayers are with the families of those who lost loved ones and those still suffering from illness and injury associated with the attack.

The resolve of the American people is strong; we will continue to move our country forward and honor the memory of those we have lost.

Celebrating the Contributions of the Latino Community

Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to recognize and celebrate the contributions of the Latino community to the United States.

From cultural masterpieces to business successes to academic triumphs and so much more, the positive impact of the Latino community on our country is both far-reaching and enormously influential. Orange County thrives because of the hard work and leadership of Latinos.

Support local Latino-owned small businesses, artists, and institutions as a way of showing your appreciation.

OCTA to Improve 35 Bus Stops in Santa Ana

Last week, the OCTA Board approved my request to provide $1 million in funding to improve 35 popular bus stops across Santa Ana.

With OCTA’s funding, the City of Santa Ana will be able to create shade, seating, trash receptacles, lighting, and other improvements at popular bus stops all over town, including near Downtown Santa Ana, Santa Ana College, South Santa Ana, and Santa Anita.

Santa Ana was not eligible to receive this funding last year due to issues with financial oversight at City Hall. Now that those problems are corrected, I look forward to seeing these new and improved bus stops going up all over Santa Ana, the heart of our bus system.

Weekly #MaskUpOC Winners

Slogan Winner

Even little ones can do their part to #MaskUpOC. @CarvajalF’s daughter heard about it on the radio and came up with a great slogan, “My Health, Your Health.” Congratulations on being this week’s #MaskUpOC Slogan Winner!

A shoutout to the South Orange County Community College District for their #MaskUpOC efforts! They recently provided over 40,000 masks to students, staff, and faculty. Thank you for doing your part to slow the spread!
